Saltwest Naturals – Applewood Smoked Sea Salt

Applewood Smoked Sea Salt from Saltwest Naturals is handcrafted Canadian sea salt, hand-harvested from the cold waters off Vancouver Island and slowly cold smoked with applewood. The result is a pure, all-natural finishing salt that keeps the bright minerality of west coast sea salt while layering in a gentle, woodsy smoke. It’s a simple way to add campfire character to a dish without reaching for a smoker — and because it’s made in small batches in Sooke, British Columbia, every bag carries a distinctly coastal Canadian story.

Cold-Smoked With Applewood For Real Depth Of Flavour: Rather than relying on liquid smoke or artificial flavouring, Saltwest slowly cold smokes its sea salt with applewood, letting the smoke settle into the crystals over time. That slow process is what gives the salt its rounded, sweet-woodsy character instead of a harsh, acrid bite — the kind of nuance you notice most when the salt is used as a finishing touch rather than cooked in.

Hand-Harvested From Vancouver Island Waters: The base salt is drawn from the cold North Pacific off the west coast of Vancouver Island and hand-harvested before being smoked and packed in small batches. Because nothing is added beyond the salt and the smoke, the flavour stays clean and the texture stays true — no anti-caking agents, no additives, no fillers.

Built For Grilling Season And Everyday Cooking: Saltwest recommends this one as a rub or a finishing salt, and its favourite pairings lean summery — corn on the cob, prawns, and burgers. It also works well on roasted potatoes, grilled steak, salmon, popcorn, and eggs, where a pinch of smoke does the work of a whole seasoning blend. The 45 g bag is a practical size for trying it out or tucking into a gift basket alongside other Saltwest flavours.
